The most important number in the microplastics heart study is not 84 percent

In the same European Heart Journal cohort that produced this summer's headlines, every patient who both smoked and lived with high air pollution had plastic particles in their blood - against 12.5 percent of those with neither. That gradient, printed in the press release, went almost entirely unreported.
